How much is your money worth?

May 12, 2021

I wanted to share with you an interesting thought I had about money.

From a young age we are taught that time is money, and there is a lot of truth to it. Fundamentally, money is a replacement for time. We exchange our time for money, and in return we pay other people for their time and money. We pay the grocery store, who pays the farmer to grow his crops. We pay our plumbers and our electricians, money is literally a measure of the value of time.

Time and energy are the only things we cannot create or destroy.

Considering this view of money, let me pose a question: if you had all the time in the world, would you choose to do nothing with your time? Probably not! I am sure you have goals for your retirement, things you want to do, goals you would like to accomplish.

Stop thinking of your money as a piece of furniture, it is little copies of you sitting in a vault, waiting to be activated and put to work. You could store those little pieces of you, for later, for times when you don’t have the time or energy - or you could put it to work creating more time/money for you!
